Southern Pacific china exhibit

Currently in the Depot Museum we have Roy Ekstrum's marvelous collection of Southern Pacific China. Also included in the exhibit are silver serving dishes, silver cutlery, menus and recipe books. Roy has even included some of the dinnerware shards that he has picked up along the tracks over the years. He says that when the dining car workers cracked a plate they would just throw it out the door. Mother Nature would wash it and then it waited for a railfan to pick it up decades later.

The whole north exhibit room is filled with dining car stuff, even including a manikin wearing the SP dining steward uniform. Well worth a visit and it's big time nostalgia for those who remember dining on the train in the old days.
